Topographic and military map of the Island of Cádiz, including Leon Island, the city of Cádiz and its surroundings
Interesting map of the French army of the Hundred Thousand Sons of Saint Louis, commanded by the Duke of Angoulême, the cousin of Ferdinand VII, the Felon King. In a disastrous episode in Spanish history, the troops invaded Spain in 1823, helping the king to put an end to the so-called Liberal Triennium.
The name of the island taken by the French in the Bay of Cadiz, Trocadero, was to becomed forever linked to a square and gardens in Paris.
The map was drawn by Auguste Pierre Jacques Faulte du Puy-Parlier (1792-1875), who was the captain of the Corps of Geographical Engineers of the French army, and Testu, lieutenant of the same corps. There is a portrait of the former, painted by Camille Corot.
